2025 in review
The Greyker team wishes you a wonderful New Year ahead.
We were excited to launch Greyker in 2025, and over the past 9 months, we’ve been busy,. assembling our initial teams, getting our first product to beta, and working with a number of clients on their data streaming needs.
The last quarter saw Confluent announce an acquisition by IBM. This portends a remarkable change for the data streaming world. IBM has managed successful acquisitions of other open source software vendors such as RedHat and Hashicorp, and we believe IBM is the best technological fit for Confluent’s products. For enterprise clients who already use IBM’s products, this deal should make it logistically easier to purchase Confluent services.
Historically, large workloads being run on IBM mainframe systems are among the most data and compute intensive. Organizations have struggled to move such workloads to commodity hardware. since they involve complex processing of vast amounts of data. The parallel processing capabilities of Kafka + Flink make such migrations achievable.
A move to Kafka + Flink builds low-latency event-driven architectures across the enterprise to build fresher data products. Legacy businesses will find this allows them to compete much more effectively with disruptive digital-native entrants. Over time, we expect Confluent’s integration into the IBM ecosystem to be very supportive for the Flink community and create opportunities for growth in key industries.
